Bank robberies are usually traumatic events. In this case though, it could easily feature in the playful news item, as the burglars were in fact raccoons. If they did not manage to steal money, the little beasts still caused a mess.

Two raccoons caused a sensation by breaking into a bank based in Redwood City, California. According to information given by the bank, the violation took place while the establishment was closed. Raccoons would have entered by climbing a tree, climbing to the roof, then descending through a breach in the ceiling, first passing through an air duct. Once in the bank, the little animals certainly weren’t interested in the money. They found much more interesting loot. “They were in the break room eating a box of almond cookies,” said Buffy Martin Tarbox, spokesperson for the Peninsula Humane Society.

It was a customer of the bank who withdrew money from the ATM of the establishment who discovered the two washing rations. He initially thought they were soft toys, but when he realized they were real animals, he called the animal rescue services right away. Before help arrived, the man had time to film the raccoons. Once the officials arrived there, they had to run for a good ten minutes to catch the two little animals.

Obviously, the incident was not serious; on the contrary, it was entertaining for the bank officials, the media and the local population.
