Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 Can ( 8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 Can ( 6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 3 Tomato paste cans of water
  • 1 Can ( 10 oz.) tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1 Teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 Teaspoon powdered oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 2 Teaspoons sugar
  • 2 Medium cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 Cup cooked rice

Toppings:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Corn chips
  • 1 Cup diced avocado
  • 1 Cup diced fresh tomatoes
  • 1 Cup cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 1 Cup sliced green onions
  • 1 Cup chopped ripe olives
  • Sour cream
  • Hot sauce

Instructions

Step 1

  • Cook meat. Add onions during last few minutes.  Drain grease.  Add  remaining sauce ingredients bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer covered for 40 minutes.

Step 2

  • Serve meat mixture in bowl surrounded by toppings.  Let guests make their own build-up starting with chips, meat and cheese, etc.
