Chocolate Chess Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons Dutch process cocoa
  • 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Cup evaporated milk
  • 3 Eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/3 Cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 Partially baked 9 inch pie shell

Instructions

Step 1

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine sugar, cocoa, flour and salt in large bowl and mix will.  Pressing out any lumps

Step 2

  • Blend in milk, beat in eggs, one at a time.  Add butter, vanilla and beat until smooth.  

Step 3

  • Bake until filling is puffed and set. (55 to 60 minutes)  Let pie cool to room temperature before serving.  Serves 8.
