Spaghetti Sauce and Spaghetti Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs. Hamburger
  • 1 Large onion
  • 1 Bell pepper
  • 3 Cloves garlic
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1/4 Cup snipped parsley
  • 1/2 to 1 Teaspoon sweet basil
  • 1/8 to 1/4 Teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 to 1/2 Teaspoon oregano
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1 Teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/2 Lb. mushrooms, sautéed
  • 1/4 Cup ketchup
  • 1 Large can tomatoes
  • 1 Can tomato paste
  • 2 Cans tomato sauce
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In Dutch oven combine meat, onion, pepper and garlic. Cook till meat is brown and onion is tender. Skim off fat. Add next 9 ingredients and simmer 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 3 hours or till sauce is thick. Stir occasionally remove bay leaf and serve over hot spaghetti.  Top with freshly grated parmesan.
