Ingredients

• 3 Cups flour
• 1 Cup raisins
• 1 Cup dates
• 2 Cups sugar
• 2 Cups boiling water
• 1/3 Cup melted shortening
• 1/2 Teaspoon soda
• 1 Egg
• 2 Teaspoons baking powder
• 2 Teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 Teaspoon cloves
• 1/2 Teaspoon salt
• 1 Cup walnuts
• 1 Cup fruit mix 

Instructions

Step 1

• Put fruit, sugar, water and nuts in covered pan and cook slowly 20 minutes.  Cool.  Sift dry ingredients into flour mixture.

Step 2

• Add beaten egg and shortening.  Add fruit mixture.  Bake at 325 degrees in small muffin pans approximately 30 minutes. 

Step 3

• Keep in tightly closed container.
